Duff & Phelps enters Ireland 'ManCo' market

Ireland_mapDuff & Phelps, a governance services provider, is entering the Irish ‘SuperManco’ market.

The firm has been authorised to provide management company service to alternative and Ucits-regulated funds.

Management companies – or ‘ManCos' – are regulatory infrastructures for investment funds and can be outsourced.

The firm already has a ManCo business in Luxembourg and in its announcement about the Irish launch, the firm addressed UK asset managers in particular, who are looking for a post-Brexit home for their legal structures.

“The Irish Super ManCo presents a favourable offering to UK fund managers looking to distribute fund products into the EU post-Brexit or looking to add local substance to existing Irish fund products. ETFs and CCFs domiciled in Ireland provide some additional tax benefits for investors looking to access certain markets,” the firm said.

Monique Melis, global head of compliance and regulatory consulting at the firm, added that the launch was timely due to the “current focus on governance and substance in Ireland”.
