Data suggests higher institutional interest in multi-assets

Balanced/multi-asset investment dominated institutional investors’ and consultants’ strategy searches in spring, according to data.

Investment analytics provider eVestment said balanced and multi-asset searches featured 13 times on its list of 20 most-viewed UK products in April.

Two of them were products managed by BlackRock: its Dynamic Diversified Growth strategy and Market Advantage (Risk Parity) strategy.

A total of eight new products showed up in the top 20 and four of these were US-focused equity strategies. Three of the new US-focused entrants were large-cap products and one was a small-cap product.

Clients in Europe (excluding the UK) almost completely reshuffled their top-viewed products list, as only one strategy (Newton Investment Management’s Newton Global Real Return EUR) remained from March’s list.

Among global investors and consultants, the top three universes by average views per product were unchanged, but entering April’s top 20 list in fourth place was the US passive large cap growth equity universe. Asia Pacific clients pushed two new universes: UK all-cap value equity (traditional), and fundamental – long/short credit (alternatives), to first and second place, respectively.
