Cyprus joins International Investment Funds Association

The Cypriot funds industry has been placed on the international investment map having been awarded full membership of the International Investment Funds Association (IIFA).

More than 40 Cyprus-based funds are currently listed on the Thomson Reuters funds platform, according to the Cyprus Investment Funds Association (CIFA).

New opportunities are arising out of Brexit for the Mediterranean island, CIFA’s chairman Angelos Gregoriades said.

Investors are “seeking an efficient tax and legal system and a highly competitive cost base,” he said.

Cyprus’ membership in the IIFA combined with its EU membership “provide additional reassurance they are operating within a rigorous legal framework that promotes transparency and protects investors”, Gregoriades added.
