Cushon partners with Wellington Management and Lombard Odier to launch sustainable investment strategy

climate change treeCushon Master Trust has partnered with Wellington Management and Lombard Odier Investment Managers (LOIM) to launch a strategy investing in the most promising companies accelerating toward net zero.

Cushon, the world’s first net zero pension provider, will launch the strategy in early 2022 with the intent to support companies in their transition to net zero with the aim to deliver safer, long-term returns for investors.

It will invest in environmentally protective projects which benefit people and the planet including alternative energy, reforestation and social housing.

Wellington and Lombard Odier will manage corporate bonds, which have a 10% allocation in the strategy.

Wellington will manage the impact bonds with a climate and social focus, while Lombard Odier will manage bonds focused on positive climate impact and funding companies working towards a green society.

The fund managers will invest in companies such as those pursuing innovations in alternative energy and funding academic institutions developing tools and research to support the social inequality reduction goals.

Roger Mattingly, chair of the Cushon Master Trust, said: “The expertise of two of the largest global players will be integral to delivering excellent retirement outcomes for our members whilst demonstrating our commitment to sustainable investing.”

The strategy includes the largest Master Trust Allocation to private markets (15%), which will be managed by Schroders Capital with a focus on projects including sustainable infrastructure, clean tech and social and affordable housing.
