Close Brothers hires Aviva Investors manager for global funds director role

Close Brothers Asset Management has appointed former Aviva Investors fund manager, Giles Parkinson, as global funds managing director.

Parkinson will take over the management of funds currently managed by Riitta Hujanen, head of funds is leaving the firm after nearly 10 years. She will remain for a short period to facilitate a smooth handover, the company said. 

In his new role, Parkinson will report to Robert Alster CIO, as well as the broader team including Richard Stroud, Henry Frewer and Katherine Wildey across all funds.

Parkinson joins from Aviva Investors where he spent the past six years and launched the Aviva Investors global equity endurance fund. 

Robert Alster, CIO at Close Brothers Asset Management, said: “Our funds are extremely important, and it remains a strategic imperative to continue to broaden and deepen our fund range. Giles will continue Riitta’s excellent work in developing the growth of our funds team.”
