Citi adds ESG scores to data services platform

Global asset servicer Citi has extended its securities services data platform to include ESG scores.

The move is part of a major upgrade of the Citi VelocitySM Clarity service which also addressed the use of bespoke reporting and application programming interfaces or APIs.

According to Citi, the move will allow clients to analyse the sustainability exposure of their holdings at the portfolio and security level.

Citi’s announcement follows the recent launch of the Sustainable Finance Disclosures Regime in March which requires asset managers to be more transparent about their sustainable fund offerings.

“The ability to understand ESG exposure has become imperative across the entire industry as investors, advisors and regulators are increasingly asking for transparency from asset managers and asset owners,” said Fiona Horsewill, global head of data for Citi Securities Services.
