Paris-based asset manager Carmignac has appointed Lloyd McAllister as the firm’s head of sustainable investment – a move that coincides with Sandra Crowl, head of stewardship, retiring at the end of January.
McAllister joins from Newton Investment Management where he worked for four years, most recently as head of ESG research and as a member of the firm’s senior leadership team.
Based in London, McAllister reports to Maxime Carmignac, managing director of Carmignac UK and the firm’s executive sponsor of ESG.
The sustainable investment team supports the fund management team with extra-financial analysis, thematic research and company engagement, as well as advising the business on sustainable investing trends and ESG regulation.
McAllister will also play a role in delivering Carmignac’s “strategic sustainable investment roadmap”, which includes increasing the business’s activities within its chosen ESG focus areas. These are “climate, empowerment and leadership”.
Meanwhile, Maxime Carmignac said Crowl had played an “invaluable” role as the firm adapted to the ESG landscape.
