Candriam Group takes 80% stake in European real estate manager

Asset manager Candriam Group has extended its ownership of real estate manager Tristan Capital Partners.

Candriam is purchasing a further 31% interest in the firm, taking its investment in Tristan to 80%. Financial details were not disclosed.

Tristan – founded in 2009 and has a pan-European real estate portfolio of around €15 billion – retains ownership of 20% among the senior management team for “continued incentivisation”.

Candriam, a “multi-specialist” manager headquartered in Luxembourg but owned by New York Life Investments Company, has around €140 billion in assets under management.

Ric Lewis, founder, executive chairman and co-CIO of Tristan Capital Partners, said the two firms had “built a powerful alliance based on mutual respect and the understanding of the importance of preserving Tristan’s entrepreneurial culture, investment philosophy, and discipline”.

Tristan is based in London and manages around €24 billion of real estate assets in total.
