Candriam expands €3.4bn EMD team

Emerging_markets_newspaperCandriam has appointed Richard Briggs as senior portfolio manager within its €3.4 billion emerging markets debt team.

In his new role, which will start in October, Briggs will focus on hard currency sovereign debt at the sustainable and responsible-focused asset manager.

He joins Candriam from GAM Investments, where he held the role of investment manager for emerging market sovereign credit, leading on hard currency.

Prior to that, he worked for Alliance Trust as an emerging market economist and at CreditSights as a senior analyst for global emerging market & sovereign credit.

At Candriam, Briggs will be based in London and will report to Canadriam’s head of emerging markets debt, Diliana Deltcheva.

Deltcheva commented:

“Emerging markets debt is a strategically important growth area for Candriam and we continue to invest in strong talent to strengthen our offering to clients. We look forward to announcing further hires to the team later this year.”

In March, Candriam revealed it had seen record assets under management for 2021 reaching €185 billion, an increase of €18 billion on the year prior’s figures.

ESG assets at the company for the year had reached €105 billion, surpassing the €100 billion milestone for the first time in the company’s history.
