BMO Global Asset Management has renamed its European equity fund in a bid to highlight its renewed sustainable focus.
Although the fund has incorporated multiple aspects of sustainability to date, minor changes will be made to the fund’s investment policy to align with its renewed sustainable focus, according to the firm.
The BMO European Equity Fund will now be called the BMO Sustainable Opportunities Equity Fund.
Under the new name, the fund’s manager will only invest in companies that make a “positive contribution” to society and the environment.
Sacha El Khoury, manager of the BMO Sustainable Opportunities European Equity Fund, said: “The race to a sustainable future is disrupting the status quo and forcing companies to rethink their entire business models.”
“This creates significant investment opportunities, in sustainability leaders and companies borne out of the disruption. European businesses are very much leading the way in responding to these challenges.”
As manager, El Khoury will also use influence as an investor to encourage best practice management of environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) issues within its holdings, BMO GAM said in a statement.
