Fixed income manager BlueBay Asset Management has created a co-head of developed markets position and signalled broader expansion of its investment teams.
Stephen Thariyan assumes the role alongside Mark Dowding.
Thariyan will take responsibility for corporate credit investments and help grow the firm’s business in investment grade, leveraged finance and convertible bonds.
Thariyan most recently worked at Henderson Global Investors – now Janus Henderson Investors – as global head of credit for ten years.
Prior to that he was eight years as a senior portfolio manager at Rogge Global Partners.
Thariyan reports to Raphael Robelin, chief investment officer, who said BlueBay continued to “strengthen our investment teams” to focus on returns as markets evolved.
“His experience will complement Mark’s strong macro and sovereign expertise and, together, I believe they will continue to enhance our developed markets footprint,” said Robelin.
BlueBay is based in London and has assets under management of US$60 billion (€50.8 billion).
Interviewed by Funds Europe (February 2018) Erich Gerth, the firm’s CEO, said BlueBay would recruit additionally for its environmental, social and governance focus. He also described how BlueBay had a central position within the convergence of traditional and alternative investments.
