Barings appoints Mike Freno as CEO and president

Mike Freno has been appointed as president and CEO of Barings, the US-based money manager.

Freno, who has held the position of president for the last nine months, will replace the outgoing Tom Finke, who is reported to be joining the board of Invesco in December.

The new chief executive is credited with integrating Barings’ various investment businesses as well as the operations, technology, product management, distributing and marketing units of the $354 billion firm, in his time as president.

“I have no doubts that as CEO, (Freno) will continue to make Barings an increasingly important global player in the asset management industry,” said Finke.

Meanwhile, Freno has stated his first priority will be to communicate virtually with the firm’s international customers and employees amid the ongoing challenges of the pandemic.
