AXA IM joins SIX Swiss Exchange

AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) has become the latest ETF issuer to join SIX Swiss Exchange.

The French asset manager will add three new ETFs to the exchange as part of the agreement.

These are the €380 million AXA UM Nasdaq 100 Ucits ETF (ANAU), €194 million AXA IM Act Biodiversity Equity Ucits ETF (ABIU), and €210 million AXA IM Act Climate Equity Ucits ETF (ACLE).

Following the addition of AXA IM, the total number of issuers will increase to 27 and the total number of ETFs trading at the exchange will rise to 1706.

Christian Reuss, head of SIX Swiss Exchange, said: “ETFs have evolved to become one of the most popular and disruptive product innovations in asset management.”

AXA IM will also become the tenth issuer of active ETFs on the exchange, as the AXA IM Act Biodiversity Equity Ucits ETF and AXA IM Act Climate Equity Ucits ETF are classified as active.

Investors will now have access to 62 actively managed ETFs as investors appetite for active ETFs remain strong in the beginning of this year.

SIX reported active ETFs trading turnover reached CHF 91.1 million in the first quarter of 2023, which is a 195% increase compared to the previous quarter.

According to ETFGI, assets invested in active ETFs increased 7.2% YTD globally and account for approximately CHF 470 billion.

The ETF industry has become increasingly attractive to investors recently as BNP Paribas reported ETFs inflows are set to exceed €100 billion in 2023 after performing well in 2022.

Refinitiv Lipper also found that wider ETF adoption by retail investors could help the ETF industry grow from €1.2 trillion at the end of 2022 to €2.5 trillion by the end of 2030.

As a result, more asset managers have expanded their line up of ETFs. In April, VanEck launched Europe’s first ETF focused on the defence industry.
