Aviva appoints Nick Molho as head of climate policy

climate, policy, Aviva, Nick MolhoAviva Investors announced Nick Molho as the head of climate policy, a newly created role.

Effective June, Molho will spearhead the company’s macro stewardship programme focusing on engagement with governments, policymakers and stakeholders to correct market failures on sustainability issues.

The macro stewardship programme promotes net zero transitions at a sectoral level, advocating government policies driving a just transition-starting with hard-to-abate sectors such as energy, heavy industry, aviation and shipping, the firm said.

Molho will be reporting to Steve Waygood, chief responsible investment officer at Aviva Investors. In his previous role, Molho was executive director at the Aldersgate Group, an organisation focused on the UK’s transition towards a net zero emissions economy.

Calling Aviva Investors’ sustainability-focused work as “critical” in directing capital into global economic activities leading to “meaningful change”, Molho commented: “I look forward to supporting its ongoing work calling for a timely and successful transition to net zero emissions.”
