Amundi rolls Lyxor funds into new Article 8 offerings

article 8Amundi has broadened its climate offering with new Article 8 European and Pacific equity ETFs following the merger of funds from Lyxor.

The new funds are an addition to the French asset manager’s climate transition benchmark (CTB) range.

The Amundi MSCI Europe Small Cap ESG Climate Net Zero Ambition CTB Ucits ETF and the Amundi MSCI Pacific ESG Climate Net Zero Ambition CTB Ucits ETF will list on the Deutsche Boerse with total expense ratios of 0.35% and 0.45%, respectively, on 10 March.

The European small-cap strategy is the result of a merger between three existing ETFs from fund house Lyxor – the Lxyor MSCI Europe Mid Cap Ucits ETF, the Lyxor MSCI Europe Small Cap Ucits ETF and the Amundi MSCI Europe Low Size Factor Ucits ETF.

The merged fund will house around €108 million in assets and track the MSCI Europe Small Cap ESG Broad CTB Select index.

Elsewhere, the €82 million Lyxor MSCI EM ESG Leaders Extra Ucits ETF (LESG) is to be folded into the €1.87 billion Amundi Index MSCI Emerging Markets SRI PAB Ucits ETF (EMSRI).

Amundi stated in January that shareholders in absorbed sub-funds “should benefit from the increased investment capacity in the receiving sub-fund and the economies of scale this merger should achieve, while getting exposure to the same target asset class.”

A number of Lyxor funds have already been merged into Amundi’s products following the acquisition of the ETF specialist.

Following the €825 million deal, which made Amundi the second-largest ETF player in Europe, the French asset manager said all Lyxor’s products would be rebranded by the end of 2022.

By 2025, the France-headquartered fund house intends to grow its passive AUM by 50%.

In January, Amundi merged three funds – the Lyxor Commodities Refinitiv/CoreCommodity CRB EX-Energy TR Ucits ETF, the Lyxor Bloomberg Equal-weight Commodity ex-Agriculture UCITS ETF and the Lyxor Commodities Refinitiv/CoreCommodity CRB TR Ucits ETF – to form the €2 billion Amundi Bloomberg Equal-weight Commodity ex-Agriculture Ucits ETF.
