Amundi launches active emerging market green bonds fund

Amundi has launched a hard currency emerging market green bonds fund, which is actively managed and targets corporate but will also include some exposure to sovereigns in selected countries such as Brazil, India, China, and Indonesia.

The French fund manager said there has been a surge of growth in green bonds, with total issuance globally reaching $240 billion.

Increased capital will aid the energy transition and help emerging countries mitigate the adverse effects of climate change risks, Amundi said.

Managed by Amundi’s emerging markets team, the fund will invest in various corporate issuers across different sectors including alternative energy, transport, and real estate.

The Amundi Funds Emerging Markets Green Bond fund lead manager is Maxim Vydrine, co-head of emerging markets corporate and high yield debt, with Sergei Strigo and Paolo Cei as co-portfolio managers.
