Fulcrum “carves out” two funds from absolute return strategy

Fulcrum Asset Management is to launch a pair of funds derived from the firm’s Diversified Absolute Return Fund.

The Fulcrum Equity Dispersion Fund and the Fulcrum Thematic Equity Market Neutral Fund were due to be launched by August 3 and are carved out from strategies within the existing absolute return product.

For example, the Dispersion Fund has been a live strategy within the absolute return strategy for the last three years. Fulcrum said it had “performed well in volatile periods, including March 2020”.

The fund will be managed by Stephen Crewe, while Fawaz Chaudhry will manage the Thematic fund. Both funds – which are distributed across much of Europe and domiciled in Luxembourg – have seed capital.

Fulcrum said the launches resulted from client demand and Andrew Stevens, co-founder and chief executive, said the current and future market environment could be “fertile for these strategies”.
