Momentum Global Investment Management (Momentum GIM) has appointed Alex Garton as head of UK institutional sales.
In his new role, Garton will be responsible for developing partnerships with pension consultants and institutional investors in the UK, focusing on generating new business inflows into Momentum GIM’s funds and solutions. He replaces Nick Robert-Nicoud, who has now left the firm.
With around 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, Garton was most recently director, client service & relationship development, at Baring Asset Management, where he was responsible for managing existing and developing new relationships with clients. Specialising in multi-asset products, he managed over 60 institutional client relationships.
Prior to his work at Barings, Garton was director, corporate broking advisory, at both Evolution Securities (now part of Investec) and at Hoare Govett (when it was owned by ABN AMRO and then RBS) where he advised FTSE corporate clients on transactions and investor relations.
Commenting on the appointment, Ferdi van Heerden, chief executive officer of Momentum GIM, says that Garton’s presence will assist the firm as it continues to expand in the UK institutional market.
Momentum Global Investment Management has £3.8 billion (€5.3 billion) of assets under management as at December 31, 2014.
