Editorial: The ‘3 Cs’ of office life

The temporary disruption to our working routines that started this time last year now seems permanent – but possible answers to what remote working means for the future of the office are emerging. The role of the office may be to coach, contact and communicate.

This ‘3 Cs’ approach is something we learned of at our Luxembourg roundtable, specifically from Helen Webster of Aberdeen Standard Investments, who took part with other representatives of fund houses and asset servicers. Alfi, the Luxembourg funds industry association, also participated.

Alfi’s annual European Asset Management Conference is upon us. Structured around two-and-a-half hours each day from March 16-19, the subject matter spans regulation, business evolution and fund management operations. Not surprisingly, this conference will be held virtually. However, hopefully the situation will change soon so that in-person events can make a comeback. The networking and ‘schmoozing’ are missed by many of us now.

Perhaps we miss the office much less so.
