Luxembourg in Focus

Luxembourg is one of the EU’s – and the world’s – premiere centres for cross-border distribution of investment funds, with a decades-long history as a base for investment management firms across the globe that sell funds in Europe that are governed by the investor-friendly Ucits Regulation.

The Grand Duchy has also risen to play a major role in service provision for alternative investment funds that fall outside of the Ucits regime and which are distributed to professional investors.

Collectively, and through a number of fund structures, the Luxembourg ‘hub’ provides services to over €5 trillion of assets under management (at the end of 2022).

Funds Europe regularly covers the Luxembourg fund industry. In this year’s special focus, we look at the progression of ESG and regulatory issues such as the SFDR, plus private capital and ManCo outsourcing.
