Scotland-based investment firm Kames Capital has bolstered its fixed income team with two hires.
Juan Valenzuela joins Kames as a fixed income manager while Timothée Pubellier joins as a trainee fixed income manager. Their appointments follow the recent addition of Grace Le to its fixed income team, also as a trainee fund manager.
Valenzuela joins Kames from Alliance Trust where he was an investment manager on the Alliance Trust Dynamic Bond Fund. Prior to Alliance Trust, Valenzuela was at Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (SWIP) where he was investment director on the SWIP Absolute Return Bond Fund. He will report into investment manager John McNeill who is responsible for the rates team at Kames.
Pubellier joins Kames from Paris based hedge fund UBP, where he was a portfolio manager with responsibility for risk, portfolio monitoring and FX hedging. He will report to Gregory Turnbull-Schwartz who leads Kames’ financials fixed income team.
“Grace and Timothée have strong financial backgrounds and great development potential, whilst with Juan we have a well-established fixed income manager. In addition they all have excellent language skills which will be extremely useful as we further develop our fixed income franchise in Europe,” says David Roberts, head of fixed income at Kames.
Kames Capital was rebranded from Aegon Asset Management in 2011 to differentiate it away from its insurance business. The firm manages £56.1 billion (€79.2 billion) on behalf of UK and international clients as at June 30, this year.
