BlueBay appoints emerging markets specialist Bhattacharya

BlueBay Asset Management, a specialist fixed income manager, has appointed Soumyanshu Bhattacharya as institutional portfolio manager for the emerging markets sovereign team.

Based at BlueBay’s headquarters in London, Bhattacharya will focus on maintaining and enhancing relationships with clients and prospective clients of BlueBay’s emerging market debt team, which comprises 34 investment professionals.

Bhattacharya says that there are increasing opportunities for BlueBay in the emerging market debt space, as investors seek alternative investment opportunities in the low yield environment.

“A strong, in-depth understanding of investing in emerging markets is necessary to capitalise on the multiple opportunities in this sector,” he adds.

Bhattacharya has ten year’s experience in fixed income and was most recently a client portfolio manager in the emerging market debt team at JP Morgan Asset Management. Prior to this he worked at Deutsche Bank in the debt capital markets origination team.

BlueBay manages over $59.1 billion (€53.5 billion) for institutions and high-net worth individuals, as at March 31, 2015.
