Market Vectors, an exchange-traded fund (ETF) provider, has listed a pair of gold funds on the alternative pan-European exchange, BATS Chi-x Europe.
The funds are a copy of two gold funds that Market Vectors, a subsidiary of Van Eck Global Investments, has in the US and are among the largest gold funds in the world.
The Market Vectors Gold Miners Ucits ETF and Junior Gold Miners ETF were listed on the London Stock Exchange in April and marked the first European listings for the asset manager.
This London listing was closely followed by a listing on the Deutsche Börse in May and Van Eck is preparing to list both the products on the Swiss exchange soon. The ETFs are currently registered for public distribution in various countries.
The products mirror the strategy of their US counterparts and Lars Hamich, European chief executive officer of Van Eck Global, discussed the strategy in a recent interview in Funds Europe recently.
BATS Chi-X listed its first ETF a year ago. The exchange rose as an alternative execution venue over the past decade, becoming a registered investment exchange in 2013, meaning it can take both retail and institutional business.
