Training Scheme of the Year

of the Year
UBS Global Asset Management
Fund Services
Judges were impressed by UBS Global Asset Management’s tailor-made training in its fund services division, which is carried out in various languages at different locations. The awards entry got straight to the point – explaining what the training centred on and what its objectives were – and this inspired confidence in UBS’s ability to deliver crisp and concise training to its employees. Over the past year, and alongside tax training, UBS has offered 120 employees its ‘Investment Instruments Advanced’ course, covering a number of complicated instruments in credit and equities. The firm also provides supporting materials on its intranet site. Judges particularly liked UBS’s decision to include operations and IT staff in its ‘Communication and Sales’ courses – an initiative designed to give these teams a better understanding of clients and to equip them with clearer communication skills using less technical jargon. Judges recognised the need for technical people working in operational services to be able to effectively communicate with clients, and this bespoke course was delivered five times to 30 people in Switzerland, Luxembourg and London.
