Scandella to lead Barings’ global emerging markets portfolios

Baring Asset Management has announced that head of equities, Jean-Louis Scandella, is to become co-manager on a number of mandates, including Barings’ flagship Global

Emerging Markets Fund, with William Palmer and Isabelle Irish.

Scandella joined Barings in May 2014 from the French equity boutique Comgest, and has 19 years of experience working in emerging market equities.

Ken Lambden, chief investment officer at Baring Asset Management, says that Scandella has been working closely with Barings’ emerging market teams since joining the firm.

“He has a strong, bottom up driven investment philosophy and a successful track record of outperformance achieved through a disciplined approach,” he adds.

Barings had assets under management of £28.2 billion (€36.9 billion) at 30 November 2014.
