Santander Asset Management (SAM) has appointed Ileana Salas, formerly at Bradesco Asset Management, to the newly created role of global head of institutional sales.
Based in London, Salas will be responsible for growing SAM’s global institutional business and introducing SAM to new markets. Alongside this, she will build on the firm’s presence in key countries in Europe and Latin America, including the UK, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Mexico, Brazil and Chile.
Salas will also lead the development of SAM’s relationships with sovereign wealth funds, pension plans, investment consultants, corporates, insurers, wholesale clients and family offices.
At Bradesco Asset Management she served as head of business development and sales for Europe and the Middle East for over four years. Prior to this, she held senior business development roles at ABN Amro, Gartmore Investment Management, and Schroders.
Juan Alcaraz, SAM global chief executive officer, says that developing the institutional business globally is a core part of SAM’s strategic growth plans.
SAM manages €172 billion in assets across all types of investment vehicles, as at March 31, 2015.
