Peter Clarke, former chief executive of hedge fund giant Man Group, has become the first non-executive director on investment manager RWC Partners’ board.
Clarke, who will take up the post in July, already sits on the boards of Lombard Odier, Axa UK and reinsurer Lancashire Holdings. He also joined the board of Essentia Analytics last year, a fintech firm using big data software to assist analysts and traders at asset management firms. A spokesperson for RWC said Clarke’s fintech nous was a clincher in the appointment process.
Dan Mannix, chief executive of RWC added that the appointment reflected the company’s ambition to expand its presence in US, Asia-Pacific and European institutional markets.
Clarke ran Man Group for six years, before resigning in 2013 after the firm suffered a significant drop in its share price and assets under management. He was replaced by Emanuel Roman.
RWC, which is 43% owned by Schroders, saw a 40% rise in its assets under management last year to $11.5 billion (€10.4 billion).
