Russell appoints Sobkowich to Nordic region

Russell Investments has hired Samantha Sobkowich as director, institutional sales for the Nordic region.

Sobkowich replaces Sjef Pieters, who left the firm in September 2014. She will report to Martijn Kuipers, managing director of the Amsterdam office.

At Russell Investments, Sobkowich will be responsible for the direct sale of Russell’s funds in traditional and alternative asset classes, as well as the sale of fiduciary investment management services to professional institutional investors. This will include pension funds, insurance companies and charities based in Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway.

Prior to joining Russell Investments, Sobkowich held the role of head of business development, Nordics and Benelux, at investment manager Cairn Capital. Her previous experience of the investment industry also includes roles at Tiberius Asset Management and Brevan Howard Asset Management.

Russell Investments has over $272 billion (€249.1 billion) in assets under management, as at December 31, 2014.
