FinTech firm Essentia Analytics has appointed Peter Clarke (pictured), former chief executive officer (CEO) of hedge fund Man Group, and Charles D Ellis, founder of market intelligence provider Greenwich Associates, to its board of directors.
Clarke, who retired in 2013, held the role of CEO at Man Group from 2007. Prior to this he worked as the firm’s chief financial officer (CFO) and contributed to corporate finance. Before joining Man Group he worked in banking with Morgan Grenfell and CitiBank.
He currently holds a number of positions, including non-executive director of AXA Investment Management and chairman of their UK boards; non-executive director of Lombard Odier Investment Management; and non-executive director of Lancashire Holdings Insurance.
Ellis is an investment consultant and writer, known for his philosophy of investing through index funds. His book Winning the Loser’s Game explores investment strategies.
He started Greenwich Associates in 1972 and was the managing partner. The firm focused on financial institutions, providing strategic consulting services. He has also served as a director of the Vanguard Group.
Ellis has been appointed to the faculties of Harvard Business School, where he also served on the board of directors, and the Yale School of Management. He has also chaired Yale University’s investment committee, and has served as chairman of the board of the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts.
