Northern Trust appoints hedge fund head

Northern Trust has appointed David Burnett as head of Northern Trust Hedge Fund Services in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (Emea).

He replaces Liam Butler, who is now chief risk officer in Ireland.

Based in London, Burnett – who has worked for Northern Trust since 2011 – will report to Peter Sanchez, global head of Northern Trust Hedge Fund Services.

Burnett joined Northern Trust as head of relationship management, Emea, following Northern Trust’s acquisition of hedge fund administrator, Omnium, from Citadel.

Since its acquisition in 2011, Northern Trust Hedge Fund services has seen a period of rapid growth, the firms says, attracting more than 95 new client mandates and over $200 billion (€183 billion) in assets under administration, including one from the world’s largest global hedge fund managers, Bridgewater Associates.
