Standard Chartered enhances securities services

Emerging markets1Multinational emerging markets-focused bank Standard Chartered has appointed Katarina Rosboch to global head of securities services.

Rosboch, who is rejoining the bank after 16 years in UBS’s Asia Pacific investment division, will be responsible for the firm’s technology and operations teams globally.

Standard Chartered holds assets of $725.9 billion (€662 billion). Ninety per cent of the bank’s profits come from Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

The firm’s significant exposure to emerging markets resulted in a troubled 2015 for Standard Chartered, in which the bank exited equity capital markets, issued several profit warnings and announced that it would cut 15,000 jobs, including 1,000 senior roles.
