US-based asset manager VanEck – which launched its first exchange-traded fund (ETF) in Europe last year – has restructured its European fund business under one team.
The ETFs and active strategies team will fall under Uwe Eberle, head of international business development and distribution.
Eberle is tasked with expanding Van Eck’s client relationships with the support of teams in Switzerland, Germany, Spain and China.
Lars Hamich, formerly European chief executive, left the firm at the end of May this year to pursue other interests. The firm is not replacing him or keeping the role. Funds Europe interviewed Hamich while still ensconced as European head. The interview can be read here.
Jan van Eck, chief executive of VanEck, said: “We are aligning the firm’s team structure worldwide to accommodate the needs of both our clients and our expanding global business.”
VanEck had $25 billion (€22.6 billion) in assets under management at the end of last year.
