UniCredit launches European green bond ETF

Milan-based Unicredit has unveiled an exchange-traded fund (ETF) which it claims is the first to offer exposure to a diversified range of liquid euro-denominated green bonds from European issuers.

The Unicredit MSCI European Green Bond EUR Ucits ETF is primarily targeted at institutional investors and includes green bonds from issuers in different sectors and countries across Europe.

Antonio Keglevich, head of sustainability bond origination at UniCredit, said: “Green bonds offer investors the possibility to invest easily in projects with direct relevance for environmental protection.

“Having the same risk and yield as common bonds, green bonds provide an added value which exceeds financial aspects. This ETF complements our value chain for green bonds.”

The fund is approved for distribution in Germany, Austria, Italy and Luxembourg.
