State Street appoints head of UK trustee and depositary business

State Street has appointed Mark Westwell as head of its UK trustee and depositary business, which provides services to more than 528 funds valued at over £254 billion (€293 billion). His appointment is subject to regulatory approval.

Based in London, Westwell will report to Akbar Sheriff, head of global services in the UK. He takes over from Linda McMahon who left to take up a similar post with BNY Mellon towards the end of last year.

Westwell joined State Street in 2007 and has held various leadership roles within the business, such as director of State Street Trustees Limited, State Street Infrahedge and State Street South Africa Limited.

According to the New York-based firm, Westwell has been a key component in planning for Brexit, and chairs the firm’s Brexit client communications group in Europe.
