Standard Life Investments adds EM investment director

Standard Life Investments (SLI) has recruited Imran Ahmad from JP Morgan Asset Management (JPMAM) to its five-strong emerging market debt team as investment director.

Ahmad held the role of currency portfolio manager at JPMAM and at SLI will have primary responsibility for emerging market currency overlay strategies across the emerging market debt suite of funds.

He reports to Richard House, head of emerging markets fixed income, and will be based in London.

SLI this week announced the launch of an Emerging Market Debt Unconstrained Sicav fund – its fourth emerging market debt strategy in the suite of emerging market debt products. The firm said the fund was launched in response to demand from European investors for access to the “increasingly popular” asset class and will be co-managed by Richard House and Kieran Curtis.

The fund will be able to invest in 70 countries, covering hard and local currency sovereign debt and hard currency corporate debt.

The fund has assets under management of $100 million (€89 million).
