Smith & Williamson adds to adviser DFM outsourcing team

London-based investment manager Smith & Williamson has hired Matthew Finch, a former Baring Asset Management executive, to expand its investment outsourcing business.

Finch joins as an associate director and will focus on selling portfolio services and discretionary fund management (DFM) to financial advisers – an area of business that Smith & Williamson said had “grown considerably” in recent years.

The appointment reflects wider growth in investment outsourcing by financial advisers in Europe.

Finch spent eight years as an associate director at Barings in the UK wholesale distribution team. Prior to Barings he was a business development manager at Credit Suisse Asset Management.

Finch will report to Mickey Morrissey, head of retail sales, and work alongside Julian Polnik and Lucy Mitchell.
