Railpen appoints chief operating officer

Railpen, the manager of the UK railway industry’s £25 billion (€28 billion) pension scheme, has appointed Paul Nathan as its chief operating officer.

In his new role Nathan will oversee the management of Railpen’s middle office, business change, technology and finance functions and will report to managing director Julian Cripps.

Nathan has 20 years’ experience in senior business roles and previously worked as chief operating officer for Old Mutual Global Investors.

He has also worked for the Church Commissioners and the Saïd Business School.

Cripps said: “Having someone of Paul’s experience will be invaluable to us as we continue to strengthen systems supporting our developing internal investment capabilities.”
