P-Solve hires consultant from Willis Towers Watson

P-Solve, a UK-based investment consultant, has appointed Damon Hopkins – formerly of Willis Towers Watson – as associate director in its defined contribution (DC) pensions business. The position is newly created.

At Willis Towers Watson, Hopkins advised trustee and corporate clients on a range of DC issues, including scheme design and investment strategy.

P-Solve launched a fiduciary investment business in 2011 focused on DC schemes, but also has defined benefit schemes and insurers among its clients.

Hopkins reports to Ajeet Manjrekar, co-head of P-Solve, which is owned by River & Mercantile Group, a UK-listed asset manager with around £31 billion of assets under management.

During his career, Hopkins has also worked at pension consultants Mercer and JLT Benefits Solutions.

Hopkins said the DC world was evolving “very quickly”, particularly since the UK introduced ‘pensions freedoms’ rules.

Manjrekar said P-Solve had been providing investment advice to DC clients for over 15 years and he described the firm as a pioneer in fiduciary management for DC schemes.
