US asset manager OppenheimerFunds and Switzerland’s Pictet Asset Management are collaborating on a fund that focuses on environmental solutions.
OppenheimerFunds has launched the equity fund but Pictet Asset Management will manage it.
The OFI Pictet Global Environmental Solutions Fund is sold by Oppenheimer’s private client group and aimed at wealthy people and their advisers. Luciano Diana, head of environmental thematic investing, and senior investment managers, Gabriel Micheli and Simon Gottelier, manage the portfolio, which is benchmarked against the MSCI All Country World Index.
The fund focuses on companies providing products or services where there are environmental challenges, such as those contributing to resource efficiency and pollution control.
Luciano Diana, head of environmental thematic investing at Pictet Asset Management, said: “People around the world are becoming increasingly aware of the harm to human health that is caused by environmentally destructive economic development. Because of this we expect companies that contribute to environmental solutions should experience above average growth over the long-term.”
