Northern Trust appoints Swiss business head

Northern Trust has appointed Wim van Ooijen to a new position leading its business in Switzerland as part of the US firm’s expansion plans for continental Europe.

The appointment, the latest in a series of changes at Northern Trust, follows an agreement in February for the firm to acquire UBS Asset Management’s fund administration servicing units in Luxembourg and Switzerland.

Van Ooijen currently heads the trust’s business in the Netherlands and Germany. In his new role van Ooijen will report to Clive Bellows, head of Global Fund Services, Europe, Middle East and Africa (Emea) and will retain his existing responsibilities for Northern Trust’s German office.

He will continue to oversee Northern Trust’s Netherlands business until a replacement is announced.

Van Ooijen joined Northern Trust in 2004. Before becoming country head for the Netherlands in 2010, he was head of the firm’s asset servicing business relationship management team based in Amsterdam.
