A leading responsible investment manager has lost its head of sustainable investing for the same newly created role at Newton Investment Management.
Andrew Parry joins Newton IM from Hermes Investment Management.
Newton IM manages about £3.3 billion (€3.7 billion) of assets on a “sustainable or ethical basis” out of around €55 billion in total assets.
Parry will oversee the firm’s sustainable range, aiming to ensure sustainability efforts are consistent throughout, a spokesperson for the fund manager said.
At Hermes, Parry helped develop the firm’s impact investing capabilities and align funds to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Based in London, Parry will report to Curt Custard, chief investment officer at Newton IM, which is a BNY Mellon Investment Management subsidiary.
Parry has over 30 years of equity investment expertise, having also held roles including chief investment officer of global equities at Northern Trust Global Investments and head of equities at Julius Baer Investment Management.
Earlier this year, BNY Mellon Investment Management launched a sustainable global equity fund managed by Newton IM.
Part of the firm’s BNY Investment Funds UK-domiciled range, this latest addition is actively-managed in accordance with Newton’s sustainability criteria.
