US asset manager MFS Investment Management has expanded its distribution in Italy, one of Europe’s best selling fund markets in recent months.
The firm has hired Assunta Siviero as sales director for Italy. She joins from Columbia Threadneedle Investments and is based in Milan.
Italy saw some of the strongest sales of Ucits funds in Europe last year when sales bounced back in the third quarter. Ucits fund sales in Italy totaled €3,625 million, second only to France.
Assunta will develop business within the firm’s retail channel, partnering with financial consultant networks and their advisers.
She will work closely with Davide Franchini, who joined the firm in May 2014 and was promoted to sales director in January 2016. They will be supported by Enrico Pignat, senior sales representative.
Assunta reports to Andrea Baron, who is responsible for business development across the Italian region.
MFS Investment Mangement has its European sales headquarters in London and regional offices in Frankfurt, Zurich, Paris, Madrid and Milan, and it manages US$448.7 billion (€412.7 billion) in assets globally.
