LGIM opens Milan office for Italian ETF push

Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) has appointed a former iShares client manager to head a newly opened office in Italy.

LGIM is to market exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and other Ucits products in the country under Giancarlo Sandrin (pictured), formerly head of asset manager clients in BlackRock’s iShares ETF business in Italy.

Sandrin has been appointed to lead the UK firm’s wholesale and retail push from an office in Milan.

Sandrin reports to Simon Hynes, regional head of retail distribution, who described the expansion of its Italian ETF business as a top priority and one which Sandrin was “perfectly equipped” to drive.

LGIM is working to increase the share of its revenues from Europe. Appointments for this plan this year included  Philipp Graf von Königsmarck as head of wholesale sales.
