Lazard Asset Management has launched a Ucits alternative fund to exploit current market volatility for excess returns.
The fund will be managed as part of Lazard’s Rathmore strategy, a global hedged convertible strategy that seeks absolute returns by allocating capital between two sub-strategies.
The strategy is led by portfolio manager Sean Reynolds who works with a ten-strong team in New York.
Reynolds said: “Our view is that the pick-up in volatility, which has been a feature of the market so far in 2018, is likely to persist for the foreseeable future.”
He added: “In a rising volatility environment, the opportunity to generate excess returns with little sensitivity to interest rates should appeal to investors.”
Lazard has $252 billion (€210 billion) in assets under management.
