London-based Lazard Asset Management is to open an office in Amsterdam to serve Netherlands-based clients.
The office will be headed by Marcel van Ostaden, who has joined the firm as director of sales for the Netherlands, in which role he will be responsible for retail and institutional sales and marketing in the region.
“The Netherlands is an important and growing market for us,” said Jeremy Taylor, chief executive of Lazard Asset Management.
“Marcel brings more than 20 years of investment industry experience, and his knowledge and expertise will position us well for continued growth in the region.”
Prior to joining the firm van Ostaden spent six years as country head of sales for Benelux at Lombard Odier Investment Managers.
He previously worked as sales director at BlackRock and in various sales roles for BMO Global Asset Management.
As of end June, Lazard Asset Management and affiliated asset management companies in the Bermuda-based Lazard Group managed $238 billion (€202 billion) worth of client assets.
