Kames Capital has appointed former Janus Henderson Investors portfolio manager Thomas Hanson as its head of high yield fixed income. Hanson is one of two hires Kames has made for its high yield business.
Based in Edinburgh, Hanson will be co-manager with Mark Benbow on the Kames High Yield Bond, Kames High Yield Global Bond, and the Kames Short Dated High Yield Bond funds.
Jack Holmes, a current high yield co-manager at the firm, is leaving the business after nearly two and a half years.
At Janus Henderson, Hanson was a high yield credit portfolio manager responsible for co-managing the Janus Henderson Euro High Yield and the Janus Henderson Global High Yield funds.
Kames has also hired Eleanor Price as high yield analyst in order to expand the high yield team. Price joins from Baillie Gifford where she was a high yield investment manager.
Hanson and Price each have around 20 years of investment management experience and Kames’ head of fixed income, Adrian Hull, said they brought a “wealth of experience” to the firm.
