Investec AM increases emerging markets debt team

Investec Asset Management has added to its emerging markets corporate debt team with the appointments of Esther Chan and Alan Siow (pictured). Both hires are to newly-created roles.

They will report directly to Victoria Harling, head of emerging market corporate debt, a part of the firm’s broader emerging markets fixed income business.

Chan joins from Ashmore Asset Management where she was a portfolio manager within the emerging markets corporate high yield team. Siay joins from Bluebay Asset Management, where he jointly oversaw emerging market corporate high income funds. His responsibilities also included overseeing the firm’s EM Local Currency Corporate funds alongside sector specific analysis.

According to co-chief executive Domenico Ferrini, their appointments will add “valuable” portfolio management and product experience.

Starting life in South Africa, but now operating around the globe, Investec manages approximately $133.7 billion (€119.3 billion) for third-party clients.
