Industry veteran to lead Wells Fargo Asset Management

Financial services firm Wells Fargo has taken on Nico Marais as chief executive and head of its asset management unit with immediate effect.

Marais, most recently co-chief executive at Wells Fargo Asset Management (WFAM), replaces Kristi Mitchem, who left earlier this year.

He will work closely with Kirk Hartman, who was also a co-chief exec of WFAM. Hartman will continue to work as chief investment officer.

Marais has around 30 years’ industry experience. He joined WFAM in 2017 from Schroders where he was head of multi-asset investments and portfolio solutions.

WFAM oversees $476 billion (€421.3 billion) in assets under management.

In April, WFAM launched two Ucits compliant funds – a factor-enhanced strategy and multi-income fund – available to both institutional and retail investors.
