HSBC Alternative Investments Limited (HAIL) has made a pair of appointments to its real estate investment team.
Tim Williams has been appointed head of real estate investment. Williams joins from property advisor CBRE where he was a senior director in the investment team.
He will be responsible for running the direct real estate investment activities for advisory clients, club deals and managing the existing direct property investments for HSBC’s clients.
Based in London, Williams will report to Guy Morrell, head of real estate investment for HSBC Global Asset Management, and to Steven Ward, chief executive officer for HAIL.
Also joining the real estate investment team is Sonal Saluja, who will report to Williams. Saluja joins from the property advisory firm 90 North Real Estate Partners.
Morrell said the significant hires were part of a strategic initiative to strengthen HAIL’s direct property investment capabilities, in response to demand for physical property investments.
He added: “We are seeking to expand our existing direct property offering to HSBC’s clients, which complements our existing global investment capabilities in listed property equities and unlisted direct property funds.”
