Hogan Lovells poaches Freshfields partner

City law firm Hogan Lovells has appointed Jonathan Baird as a partner in its global investment funds practice.

Baird is a dual qualified UK and US corporate and securities lawyer who has been a partner with ‘margic circle’ law firm Freshfields in London for over ten years.

Baird, who will work in Hogan Lovells’ London office, specialises in investment fund and asset management work across all asset classes.

His practice includes capital raisings by public and private investment entities, especially listed investment companies, real estate issuers and special purpose acquisition companies, as well as mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance advice.

David Gibbons, global head of Hogan Lovells’ corporate practice, said: “Jonathan is a noted leader in listed funds and will enhance our funds practice across London, the US and Europe.

“Combined with the recent lateral hire of investment funds partner Adam Tope in New York, Jonathan’s appointment helps to further expand our coverage across a range of asset classes and fund types, which can better service the needs of our global client base.”
